This Privacy Policy describes how AI Token COunter (the “Extension”), developed by Joaquín Ruiz, handles user information.

1. Privacy Commitment

The Extension is built on the principle of “Privacy by Design.” Our top priority is keeping your data private and completely under your control. We do not collect, store, or transmit any personal information or browsing data.

2. Data Collection and Usage

  • Conversation Data: The Extension reads text from supported AI platforms (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Copilot, and Grok) strictly for the purpose of counting tokens and calculating context window limits.
  • Local Processing: All data processing occurs entirely locally within your browser. The text from your conversations never leaves your device.
  • No Storage: The Extension does not save your chat content or usage history. Once you close the tab or refresh the page, the counter resets, and no trace of the processed information remains.

3. Extension Permissions

To function properly, the Extension requires the following permissions:

  • Host Permissions (chatgpt.com, claude.ai, etc.): Necessary exclusively to inject the visual counter into these specific pages and read the text input to be counted.
  • Scripting: Used to execute the token counting logic on the active tab.

4. Third-Party Communications

  • No External Servers: The Extension does not make any background requests to external servers (APIs, analytics, or databases).
  • No Advertising: We do not display advertisements or track your behavior for commercial purposes.
  • No Data Selling: We do not sell, rent, or share any kind of information with third parties.

5. Security

Since we do not collect or store any data on external servers, there is zero risk of data breaches on our end. The privacy and security of your conversations depend exclusively on the AI platform you are using and your device’s own security measures.

6. Changes to this Policy

We may update this policy occasionally to reflect changes to the Extension’s features or for legal requirements. Any updates will be posted on this page.
